Kisspeptin-10: a guide for research labs

Kisspeptin-10 is a peptide of ten amino acids, the shortest of the kisspeptin fragments. This guide covers what it is as a material, the names it is listed under, and what its batch record should show.

What kisspeptin is

Kisspeptins are a family of peptides encoded by the KISS1 gene. The gene’s product is cut into fragments named for their length: kisspeptin-54, -14, -13 and -10. The fragments share the same C-terminal sequence and bind the same receptor, KISS1R, which was first called GPR54.

Kisspeptin-10 is the last ten residues of that sequence, and the shortest of the fragments.

The names it is listed under

Kisspeptin-10, KP-10 and metastin 45–54 name the same peptide. A listing that says only “kisspeptin” does not say which fragment it is: the sequence, the molecular formula or the molecular weight does.

The identifiers our listing records are on its product page, beside the batch record.

What a Kisspeptin-10 batch record should show

  • A lot number that matches the one on the vial label. A certificate for another batch says little about yours.

  • The laboratory’s name, and the date it ran the test.

  • A purity figure, with the technique that produced it.

  • A test of which compound is in the vial, such as mass spectrometry, where the laboratory ran one. A purity figure says how much of the sample is one compound, not which compound it is.

  • The amount measured in the vial, against the amount on the label.

  • The compound named as Kisspeptin-10, or by one of the names above, not only as “kisspeptin”.

Kisspeptin-10 at Peptide Confidential

We supply Kisspeptin-10 from Calgary, Alberta, as a laboratory reagent for in-vitro research. Each pack size has its own page, with its price in Canadian dollars, whether it can be ordered now, and the batch record behind it. When a pack size is out of stock, its page offers one email when it can be ordered again.

Each batch is tested by an independent laboratory before it is released, and its record stays public on the lab reports page. A batch that did not pass is on the same page, marked rejected with the reason, and is never sold.

Questions

Is Kisspeptin-10 available in Canada?

As a laboratory reagent for in-vitro research, yes. Peptide Confidential supplies Kisspeptin-10 from Calgary, with a published report from an independent laboratory for every batch on sale. Whether it can be ordered now is shown on its product page.

What is the difference between kisspeptin and Kisspeptin-10?

Kisspeptin is the family of peptides cut from the KISS1 gene’s product. Kisspeptin-10 is the shortest fragment, ten residues long.

Is Kisspeptin-10 the same as KP-10?

Yes. KP-10 and metastin 45–54 are other names for the same ten-residue peptide.

How do I check the batch behind my vial?

Open the code printed on the vial label. It leads to the batch record: the figures copied from the laboratory’s document, the test date, the laboratory’s name and a link to the document itself. The lot number on the label must match the lot number on the record. See Can I check a lab report myself?

Do you advise on using Kisspeptin-10?

No. We supply laboratory reagents, and we help with orders, shipping, batch records and certificates. We do not answer questions about use in people or animals.
